Visit to the Robert Lewis Collection of Classic Cars & Memorabilia

The Fellowship were very privileged to be invited back by Robert & Tanya Lewis for an exclusive viewing of their wonderful collection of classic cars and memorabilia. It is four years since we last visited the museum and it was wonderful to see how the collection has expanded with some fantastic exhibits including a completely new building housing a shop area, a Porsche & Lamborghini tractor as well as the oldest known ‘clocking-in’ machine and many other wonderful items.

Robert and Tanya started collecting beautiful cars and memorbilia in 2005 taking over from their passion for sailing. They now have over 70 beautiful cars on display ranging from 1903 to the present day. They are immaculate as Robert believes in restoring everything back to concours condition. He employs four full time staff and has a fully equipped workshop, machine shop and paint shops where everything is restored in-house.

In addition to the splendid cars is probably the largest collection of art-deco petrol pumps and associated items in the country if not further afield. All these pumps have been restored magnificently and are truly a unique collection.

Walking into the first museum guests were greeted with a Koenigsegg Agera R which created a huge about of interest. Robert explained how he had purchased the car in Tokyo where he had to remove it from the 17th floor of a tower block before shipping it home, where it has since exceeded 240 MPH on an airfield.

Robert races his own 1930’s V12 Lagonda at events such as classic Le Mans, which attracted a huge amount of interest when he fired it up for everyone to enjoy the magnificent nose!

After the visit Fellows and their guests enjoyed an excellent lunch at the nearby Bell & The Dragon pub, where Fellowship President, Peter Lewis-Jones, thanked Robert & Tanya for being such wonderful hosts and giving Fellows such a memorable and unforgettable visit.

The Fellowship has subsequently made a donation of £400 to Help for Heroes, Robert & Tanya’s preferred charity, on behalf of everyone who attended in appreciation of such an exceptional day.
