"The Fellowship's Annual Golf Day was held at Woking Golf Club on Friday 1st June. Woking Golf Club is one of the famous three W golf courses, founded in 1893, the jewel and oldest of the Surrey heathland courses. It's style is in the tradition of old English golf clubs and still retains this very appealing characteristic.

We had 9 Fellows attending on the day and joined the prestigious and long standing Motor Trade Golf Society on one of their guest days. This is the sixth year we have joined them and without their generous invitation to allow the Fellowship to do this we would struggle to arrange a day of this quality and standard of golf course.

The journey to the club was pleasantly trouble free for most, helped by the school half term holidays. The day commenced with very welcome bacon rolls and coffee in the elegant and comfortable Clubhouse lounge. Play commenced for the large field of attendees with a shotgun start allowing everybody to finish at around the same time. We were blessed with excellent weather on the day which was sunny throughout. The course presented a good challenge to everybody's golfing skills and was in spectacular condition. The greens were particularly well prepared and required great care and attention to prevent any major mishaps.  Following the round there was time to sit in the sunshine outside the Clubhouse, overlooking the course and enjoy some well deserved refreshments. We were treated to a fantastic 3 course lunch starting with a choice of hors d'oeuvres, then a choice of succulent carved lamb or cottage pie main course followed by generous helpings of various desserts.

The winner of the FMI competition and the Presidents Bowl, retaining the crown for the fifth consecutive year with a spectacular 42 points was Bob Cadman. Bob's score was the highest of the day and also won him the MTGS guest prize. Our runner up was Brian Childs with a less spectacular 30 points which won him the Henley Challenge Cup. The longest drive and nearest the pin prizes were both won by Ray Rantell on the first time he joined us on the Fellowship's day. The prizes were presented by the MTGS 2018 President, Martin Derrick.

Following the presentation, Chairman Brian Childs, thanked the MTGS for their generosity in allowing the Fellowships participation and wished them good success in the future. Special thanks were offered to Golf Manager Terry Wills who organised the whole event in such spectacular fashion.

In conclusion, the day was a tremendous success and we look forward to being invited to join next years event."
